Fortnight for Freedom

From June 21st, the Feast of Saint Thomas More (“I die the king’s faithful servant, but God’s first.”) to July 4th, Independence Day, Catholics all across America will focus on two weeks of prayer, study, catechesis, and public action in response to the repudiation of religious freedom by the Obama Administration. We invite you to join us, as religious freedom is an issue for all, even the non-theistic.

Our freedoms, all of them, derive directly from our Judaeo-Christian heritage. As M.L. King eloquently observed in his Letter from the Birmingham Jail, we will be

“…standing up for what is best in the American dream and for the most sacred values in our Judaeo Christian heritage, thereby bringing our nation back to those great wells of democracy which were dug deep by the founding fathers in their formulation of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.”

Events will be scheduled all across America. You can find links to local events here.

  1. Gaaahhh! Of course there’s no link there for San Diego. I need to get together with my Cursillo groupies and find out what’s going on.

  2. My wife and I went tonight to the opening event in San Diego, thanks to you. W C Varones, another San Diego blogger was there as well because I alerted him. We are so grateful you let us know. It was absolutely beautiful. A local evangelical preacher gave a talk that had tears running down my cheeks for the sheer brotherhood of it all.

A blog post tomorrow about it, for sure.

  3. I just bought that book. You rock. I blogged about the event, but I’m running late today and had to make it a cursory post. More later.
